碩士 === 中原大學 === 企業管理學系 === 88 === Until recently, the local chain store systems grow to maturity, however the ratio of franchising is a main decision to chain store system. Most researches past were studying the factors that affecting the ratio of franchising. This research intent to make use of Mean-Variance portfolio theory to run the chain store system. This research consider the factors of profits and risk of the chain store business, and make use the concept of efficiency frontier to decide the optimal portfolio of regular and franchise for chain store by variation coefficient and the Utility Function. We intent to show how the radio of franchising important in business decision make under the business pursue high profits and low risk. We wanted to use this model to show how chain store systems decide their best portfolio of regular and franchise during different kind of industry life cycle, different kind of chain store in different district. According to the chain store system individual character, this model will decision its’ optimal portfolio. Therefore, this research can provide a portfolio analysis of regular and franchise to the local Chain Store business, and shorten its time on determining the portfolio of regular and franchise.
