Description
Summary:碩士 === 中華大學 === 電機工程學系碩士班 === 88 === A concatenated code of Reed-Solomon(RS) code and trellis coded modulation (TCM) has been adopted as the FEC code for the cable modem. An extended triple error correcting RS code is employed for the down stream while an adjustable higher error correcting shortened RS code is used in the up link. For the TCM code used in the down stream, a so-called least significant bit (LSB) structure instead of conventional Ungerboeck’s structure is employed. According to the DOCSIS specification, a software implementation for the FEC codec is completely accomplished in the thesis. The software FEC codec is implemented by MATLAB program so that it can be easily integrated with other components of the cable modem transceiver. Since the setting of the software FEC codec is interfaced by a GUI, it can be easily and friendly operated by users who just a little aware of the code. Furthermore, based on a simple MATLAB transceiver test bed, the code structure and performance of the concatenated FEC codec is also evaluated and analyzed.
