Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 電機工程研究所 === 88 === The backbone routers, which support IntServ/RSVP, must identify millions of flows when Integrated Service is deployed. Due to its complexity, IETF proposed another architecture, which is called "Differentiated Services". This architecture modifies the traffic classifications to simplify the complexity, and then the routers in a DiffServ domain are simpler. DiffServ applies the policy mechanism and multi-field classifier on the edge routers, and the simpler classifying and scheduling based on DiffServ codepoints are implemented on core routers. This arrangement can support some degree of QoS while minimizing the dramatic change of Internet architecture. We have tried to develop basic architecture of "Differentiated Services" on Internet Access Router to provide QoS for different services. We implemented the multi-field classifier and simple token bucket mechanism on the Internet Access Router to support DiffServ. When the router receives a packet, it will classify the packet based on multi-fields of packet header and provide some quality of service if the packet should have. Our hardware platform is based on MMC PS 1000 chipset, and its software is based on "SuperTask!".
