Many organizations rely heavily on large volume of message/document exchanges for their daily routine operations. A decision is then made via extensive message/document exchanges. A good document system becomes a crucial element in the organizational information system to ensure the quality of the decision. In this study, a document-based workflow model is proposed. A document-based workflow system of production and inventory operation at a major lubricant and grease was developed and evaluated. The results indicate that most of user agree with the effectiveness and efficiency of the implemented model. According to the survey of the implemented system, users agree with that the system is useful to their tasks, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their organization. Therefore, it proves that the document-based workflow model practicable and useful.
