Such a simple ESDPT process, at molecular level, provides one possible mechanism for the mutation due to a "misprint " of a specific DNA base pair. Through the molecular design we have already explored the spectra and dynamics of proton-transfer propriety among 4-azabenzaimidazole (4ABI), 7-azaindoline (7AZD), 3-Formyl-7-Azaindole and 3-Cyano-7-Azainodole, etc. Unfortunately such 7AI analogues cannot really simulate the base pair molecule such as adenine in DNA. The goal of my research is to design and synthesize various derivatives of which are analogous to the base pair molecules of DNA such as purine and adenine; and to precede a series of spectroscopy and dynamics studies based on their corresponding absorption and fluorescence properties.
