Summary: | 碩士 === 元智大學 === 機械工程研究所 === 87 === Optical fiber embedded within composite laminates formed the smart structure has been developed in recent years. As a result of the embedded optic fiber, the structure is enhanced with sensing capability. Although the diameter of optic fiber is small, it is still larger than the reinforced fiber. Optic fiber is foreign entity to the host structure, and will perturb the geometry and stress field in vincity of the optic fiber. The objective of present research is to investigate the local disturbances of geometry and stress by the embedded optic fiber. The relative orientation between the optic fiber and adjacent lamina reinforced fibers is the major factor. As they are parallel, the geometry in the vincity of the optic fiber can be modeled by four concentric cylinders, and the stress field can be solved analytically using classic elasticity theory. As optic fiber and reinforced fibers are not parallel, the optic fiber will be surrounded by a lenticular resin pocket. The geometry of the lenticular resin can be determined by the principle of minimum potential energy, and the stress distribution in the lenticular resin are obtained by finite element method.
