碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 資訊管理研究所 === 87 === Following the rapid developing and changing of information technology (IT), more and more businesses have taken IT as a weapon to gain sustainable competitive advantages. The importance of IT is without doubt, but its related costs and risks are also tremendous. As lots of both successful and failing cases in literature, we need to explore the genuine relationship between the usage of IT and business competitiveness. We follow the resource-based theory to explore this issue. Based on a questionnaire survey, we got three significant results: (1) the relationship between IT and organizational performance in not significant, (2)“Applying IT”has significant intermediate effect on above relationship, (3) all complementary resources have significant positive relationship with organizational performance. In sum, it’s not IT alone, but IT plus all necessary complementary resources, that create a business’s sustainable competitive advantages.
