| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 工業設計技術研究所 === 87 === Except families, room space is another main life place for the old after they live in the long-term care institutions. However, at present the arrangement of the old is uneven. Therefore，many of then can''t supply comfortable and safe room space for the old according to the physical and psychological conditions and the needs of the old. Thus，this research，from a viewpoint of the aging physical and psychological functions of the old，and on the topic of "the room modes and using behavior "in long-term care institutions，discusses the problems of the distribution of room space，the design and the using behavior in thirteen nursing houses in Kaohsiung by some research methods like actual observation，interviews，and photograph etc.
The purposes of this research are as follows:
1. To investigate the current situations of space arrangement in our domestic long-term care institutions.
2. TO understand the kinds of behavior which happen to the old and the nurses the rooms
3. TO understand the interaction between the old and the room equipment environment, and to analyze how the old of different physical and psychological conditions use the equipment.
4. To submit proposals according to the above analyses , as a reference for the long-term care institutions to design the space and room modes.
The contents of this research can be divided into four main parts. They are the abstract of the actual interviews and investigation, the analyses of investigation results, the introduction of examples and discussion.
The first part is to explain and to introduce the processes which the research investigation performs and the current situations of these institutions. The second part is to examine the room modes and equipment in the thirteen institutions and bed arrangement, and the analyses of the life behavior between the old and the nurses in their rooms. The third part is the classified introductions of the current situations which the furniture, for instance, the relationship between rooms and public space, the locations of toilets on a room, no windows in a room , the interaction between rooms and rooms and bad arrangement. The fourth part discusses the relationship between the design of room space and the old whose physical and psychological conditions, disease conditions, the main bodies of the institutions, room equipment and the rules of room allocation.
Finally, sum up the above analyses and submit specific proposals to be the reference for the future design of these institutions.
