碩士 === 淡江大學 === 國際事務與戰略研究所 === 87 === The main argument of this thesis is to describe the history background and important content of PRC’S economic strategy toward Taiwan. By studying and analyzing the material in a long term, this thesis is going to discover why PRC change its traditional military attack strategy toward Taiwan to economic strategy in order to reach the goal of peaceful reunion. The historical approach is used to achieve the object of finding out the variables from the environment of PRC’s economic strategy toward Taiwan. There are five chapters in this thesis. In chapter one, the motivation, purpose, structure and limitation of the research are introduced. Also, the concept of economic strategy is defined. In chapter two, the formation background, idea and objective of PRC’s economic strategy toward Taiwan at the present stage are discussed. The interaction of economy and trade relations between PRC and Taiwan has established from 1979. It includes three periods. The comprehension, stategic scheme, document, action, process and influence are described in chapter three. The threat of PRC’s economic strategy toward Taiwan will be researched in three dimensions, economy, politics and military, in chapter four. The conclusion of this thesis is in chapter five. What shall we do while Taiwan is facing PRC’s economy strategy offensive? An effective response policy will be suggested in the end of this thesis. The purpose of this research is to clearly identity the intention of PRC’s economic strategy, and to provide advice to policy markers when respond to the PRC’s shifting Taiwan policy.
