The interpretation of the Taiwanese history and the imagination of film scenes are the two ends of thread of the theme in my design. They were found in a tangled knitting wool and gathered up all over again.
Like making a documentary film, the idea is to create a scene in which people can experience and be film directors themselves. Film-like scenes and atmosphere are created with abstract architecture elements. The exclusive history of the base provides material for the documentary film. The motionless scenes are converted into a series of successive shots as viewers move continually. As sentences are composed of words and texts are composed of sentences, the individual shots are connected and become a film through the visual experience of viewers.
The core point of the thesis is the discussion on the interpretation of the Taiwanese history and the exploration of the characteristics of films. They are two originally loosely related subjects. The design concept is developed by utilizing these two subjects. In my design history is served as elements while the film-like atmosphere is presented as a technique. In the mean time, the discussion on the interpretation of the Taiwanese history has helped me develop an attitude towards architecture design and stimulated my thoughts of the interaction between the old and the new forms of architecture design.
