| Summary: | 碩士 === 東海大學 === 工業工程學系 === 87 === With the more and more functions that customers require, the complexity of the product has increased and caused reliability to become more important. Reliability engineering starts at the very beginning in the value chain－product design to design competitive products. So, the first step of promoting reliability is to find the situation of reliability engineering.
The research has shown that product reliability is almost determined in the design stage. Reliability design has not been an important factor in the past（the copy-assemble period）in Taiwan, but now it will be a key in producing good results. So, this research aims directly at machine tool industry to find the situation and the lack of using reliability engineering in the period of independent R&D. The research provides reference for promoting product reliability.
According to theory and empirical study, the research finds that machine tool industry emphasizes on “maintenance” work in certificate, but neglects “promotion” work (Reliability design and analysis) in using reliability engineering. The facts discovered in this investigation could offer valuable information for academic reports, and could also provide reference for how to upgrade in the industry and reliability promotion in enterprises.
