We use monthly datafor the period 1977 - 1997 , and employ cointegration techniques to obtain a long run equation. We conclude that elasticities agree with previous findings and could be used for analyzing the revenue effects of changes in tariffs .
Moreover the model is used to estimate the increase in social welfare that would result frome a tariff rebalancing .
