Description
Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 德國語文學研究所 === 87 === Abstract: In Taiwanese media, quite a large part of all reports are news about politics and politicians. From this fact, we can see that politicians-- and especially: what politicians SAY--play an important role in society. That's the point this thesis wants to research on. It investigates the speech acts of politicians from the perspective of pragmalinguistics. The methods of analysis in the thesis are: at the beginning we introduce some theories about pragmatism, such as the theory of dialogue, conversation, interview, speech act and illocution. Secondly, four dialogues are choosen from different media, and analysed using the theories as methodological tool. In the process of analysis, we use first the definition of Motsch's illocutions as standard and analysed, what category of illocution every sentence belongs to, and then, we show in diagrams which illocution do 5 politicians prefer to use in dialogue. The second part analyses main and sub-illocutions using Brandt and Rosengren's methodological tools and also show the results in diagrams. At last, we find four results of this thesis: (1)The five politician in this thesis prefer to use "information","assertion","evaluating statemen"and "established facts"(2)Every sentence has at least one illocution. In many situations, one sentence has different illocutions for different listeners. (3)Politicians use indirect speech act to avoid tricky questions. (4)From the diagrams of main- and sub-illocutions, we can see the structure and coherence of the politician's statements.
