Description
Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 新聞研究所 === 87 === This dissertation is to analyze the contents of the news report of the main newspapers on CPBL(Chinese Profession Baseball League) and TML(Taiwan Major League). The sampling sources are from China Times, Min Shing Daily, United Daily News, Liberty Times, Taiwan Daily and China Daily News. The sampling ranges form March to October in 1998, the season those two leagues compete. The findings and conclusions are as follows: 1.The proportion of the sports news, from 6% to 8.4%, has remarkably increased. Especially the baseball news is the major part of the sports page. Furthermore, according to the statistics, the press seems to have a bias in favor of CPBL. 2.The reports make a focus on game news and the diagrams have been largely used, even more than the pictures. This is probably because the games increase but the pages are still limited. 3.The reports about the leagues are quite positive. It''s because professional baseball is the first professional sports in Taiwan and baseball is considered to be "the national ball" by most Taiwanese. In this case, the games or interviews are reported in an encouraging way. 4.The more stress the game news, the more kinds of diagrams will be used. Most of all, hit list and scorings are required. 5.Pictures are widely used and the proportion has been up to 91.1%. Pictures depicting scenes of the strike part and the defense part are shown often most, and the close-up of the player of winning part is the next. 6.The interviewed executives of the six papers consider that the styles of the reports is too stiff and it is necessary to make a difference and change the layout in order to meet the readers'' need and attract their attention.
