Previous research has derived tensile formulas based on classic Physics and the Calculus. However, a recent study has used statistics to generate mathematical model for tensile calculations with basic properties of fibers. Following the same procedures of the statistical method, this thesis has attempted to generate a new model for tensile calculations with 3 practical properties of fiber and paper. The conclusions are: 1.The model relates tensile strength with fiber length, fiber coarseness, and paper density. The model is in the form of exponential functions. And the model has tested acceptability. 2.At the molecular level, paper tensile strength varies with the quality of the covalent bonds within the fiber, the hydrogen bonds between fibers, and the flexibility of individual fibers. 3.The model can be used for predicting paper tensile strength made by a papermachine.
