Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 機械工程系 === 87 === An experimental investigation of CPU thermal module for a PC is carried out in this study. The thermal module is comprised of an axial-flow fan and a heat sink. At first, a basic axial-flow fan is designed with the NACA airfoil; then, the prototype can be made by CAD/CAM system and tested to serve as reference for further modification. Notably, all experiments regarding performance and noise characteristics in this analysis are executed in the AMCA 210-85 chamber and semi-anechoic chamber, respectively. Thereafter, a parametric study on fan geometry is performed to enhance the understanding of the influences caused by those variations. The parameters considered here include blade angle and tip clearance between casing and impeller. Regarding the efficiency of PC thermal modules, the thermal resistance is measured within an isothermal environment at 35℃. By varying the distance between fan and heat sink, a series of experiments is set up to find the suitable combinations between heat sink and fans with different blade angles. Finally, an extensive and detailed discussion for these results is provided.
