Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 電機工程系 === 87 === A virtual path based (VP-based) ATM network concept has been proposed to simplify traffic control and resource management in Broadband Integrated Service Digital Network (B-ISDN). When resource are reserved on VPs, call setup processing can be reduced or even ignored. Some previous studies only focus on assigning each VP’s with a fixed bandwidth so that the utilization of physical links drops and call-blocking rate raises. In this paper, we proposed a new strategy to dynamically assign the VP’s bandwidth and create VP connection. Such that the VP’s bandwidth and the utilization of the used link increase and the call-blocking rate drops. We proposed the scheme of making connection and the method of re-routing. They are applied point-to-multipoint call connection. We used three multicast algorithms, IND (independent), MST (minimum spanning tree), and SP (shortest paths), to analysis and comparing with the fixed VP’s bandwidth under the same condition. We simulate ATM network construction and get network call-blocking rate, bandwidth utilization, and control cost.
