According to statistics, there are more then 6 million web servers in the world up to now, and more than 5 emails are transmitted on the Internet every second, it is estimated that more than 200 million people will employ email as their communications tool by year 2000. Thus, Internet has become the major communication media.
People gathered information before because they are short of information, but nowadays it becomes information overloading everywhere on the Internet, and people always have too much information now. Once more, because of the diverse characteristics of the Internet, it is so difficult for people to merge the Internet resources. Therefore users need to spend more time to gathering the related information. It is also difficult for people to determine the accuracy of the Internet resources.
Some automatic software technology is needed to deal with the large quantity of information spread over the Internet. Intelligent Agent is one of the best software technologies that can help us screen out the information we need. This research implements an intelligent agent system to provide automated and personalized information services of electronic newsletters. Users can subscribe, receive, and read electronic news based on their preferences. This system can also track users reading, reload for collaboration recommend of related news.
