Besides that, the antecedent of the “Kobasa mediational model” was tested over again. The study was a descriptive-correlative research using structured questionnaires and face-to face interview. Purpose samples were 106 psychiatric caregivers from psychiatric OPD or medical department in Hsinchu community. Five instruments were included: 1.The demographic variables of the caregivers. 2. The demographic variables of the schizophrenia patient. 3. The symptoms of psychiatric scale. 4. The Health Related Hardiness Scale. 5. The Chinese Health Questionnaires. Collected samples were analyzed descriptively and inferentially by SPSS statistical program. The major conclusions could be as follow: (1) The psychiatric caregivers’ hardiness was above the average since the related hardiness average score was 147.50 and the each questionnaire mean was 4.33. (2)The subject who is male、 high educated、 concerning the patient 、high economic level and no physical diseases got high hardiness characteristics. (3) No significance was showed between the symptoms of psychiatric patient and the caregivers’ hardiness. (4) The higher the caregivers’ hardiness is, the better the health status of caregivers will be. (5) The predictive variables of caregivers’ hardiness: was “education” and “take medicine by patient self ”. These two variables could be accounted for 39.2% of total variance. The result could be a reference or a guideline of nursing instruction for a psychiatric health caregivers to understand the hardiness in community of psychiatric caregivers. Furthermore, some recommendations were made. These recommendations were regarding to nursing education, nursing administration, and nursing research.
