| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 機械工程學研究所 === 87 === This study concerns the kinematic properties of the mechanisms with string elements. Firstly, the string element, which is infinitely flexible and can only carry a tensile force, would be studied for its kinematic characteristics while in a mechanism. Then, the kinematic structure of string mechanism is investigated as the strings are either stretched or loose. The general rules for evaluating the conditions of strings are developed, and some cases are presented here. Lastly, the method for structural synthesis of string mechanisms is developed. The results of this study should be helpful for understanding the basic nature of string mechanisms, and can be used as the foundation for further development in the design and application.
