WebNFS also expands the file sharing of NFS to the Internet environment. In this article, we will discuss an implementation of a WebNFS system, which includes a server running on FreeBSD and a client running on MS-Windows 98. The system also demonstrates that the NFS system is independent of the operating systems. NFS suffers a drop of efficiency when doing remote file copy because of its design. To eliminate this, we extend the protocol to improve the efficiency by reducing transmission over the network.
