Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 物理學研究所 === 87 === In most cases, near-field optical scanning microscopy (NSOM) detect the absorption and fluorecense on a sample without knowing how the molecular chains are arranged. Using X-ray diffraction, the PPV thin film was known to have crystalline structure. However, its domain size is too small for direct observation under a microscope. In this thesis, a method was proposed and demonstrated to glean information about light absorption, dicroism and orientation of PPV thin films by use of a polarisation modulation NSOM. The change in arrangement of polymer chains for different thickness of thin film was also investigated. No difference in the domain size was found for different sample thickness. Further investigation is necessary in order to know if there is any structure along the vertical direction of the film.
