Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 心理學研究所 === 87 === This research is aimed to study two aspects of emotional experience in Taiwanese college students. Study 1 was designed to investigate the structure of their emotional concepts in Taiwanese society. 140 college students were asked to rate the similarities among 35 Chinese emotional terms. The result of cluster analysis indicated that their emotional concepts can be represented by seven clusters: sadness, shame, anger, fear, peace, happiness, and love. The meanings of emotional clusters are discussed in terms of Chinese cultural context. Study 2 asked the subjects to rate their frequencies of experience with each of those 35 emotional terms in their relations to seven social targets. Moreover, they were asked to evaluate two qualities of interpersonal relationship, namely, intimacy and authority, in their experience of interaction with those targets. Their responses to 35 emotional terms were classifies into seven clusters which we obtained in study 1. Results of multiple regression analysis showed that intimacy has negative correlation with fear and positive correlation with other emotions; authority has negative correlation with four negative emotions (sadness, shame, anger, and fear) and no significant correlation with other three emotions. The cultural implications of current research are discussed, and some related topics for future research are suggested.
