Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 心理學研究所 === 87 === Peer relationship takes an important role especially for children. Previous researches showed that children with poor peer adjustment are at risk for later life difficulties and rejected children are more likely to have long-term negative outcomes than other children. Therefore it is important to find out what makes children to be rejected. The most consist predictor of peer rejection is aggression especially physical aggression. This study takes another aspect and examines the relation between verbal aggression tendency and social status. Furthermore, present study examines the relation between parental verbal abuse and children’s verbal aggression tendency, and individual differences of children’s vulnerability in response to parental verbal harness. 765 first and second graders (386 boys, 379 girls), and 725 parents (306fathers, 419 mothers) participated the study. Children are separated into popular, rejected, neglect, controversial and average children according to social preference and social impact. Each of them had a vulnerability score and verbal aggression tendency assessment (VATA) score. 105 H-VATA and 105 L-VATA children are assigned according to VATA scores. Each of parents had a parental verbal abuse (PVA) score. It indicated a significant relation between verbal aggression tendency and social status. Children with higher verbal aggression tendency have higher social impact but lower social preference. In addition, children with high verbal aggression tendency are more likely to be rejected by their peers. There is no significant difference between H-VATA’s PVA and L-VATA’s PVA. From the aspect of vulnerability, most children can differentiate four events and they are more vulnerable in moral and conventional issues than they are in personal and academic issues. There is also no significant difference of vulnerability between H-VATA group and L-VATA group in general. When considering disciplinary contexts individually, individual differences of verbal aggression tendency are shown only in conventional issue. H-VATA group is less vulnerable than L-VATA group.
