Baker, Jr. 貝克定 碩士 國立臺灣大學 中國文學研究所 87 This thesis makes an investigation into the order of the 64 hexagrams of the Mawangdui Boshu Yijing based on the "Shu wang/zhi lai" passage found in both the Mawandui Boshu "Yizhiyi" pian and in the received version of the "Shuoguazhuan". The investigation is based on a detailed comparison of the usage of the individual words of this passage in other locations of the Yizhuan, together with a comparison of the viewpoints expressed in the Mawangdui Boshu Yi Commentaries. It is concluded that the special arrangement of the 64 hexagrams in the Mawangdui Boshu is in order to comply with the Bagua or the interelationshionship of "tiandiwanwu", and not as an aid to divination, as presupposed by most previous scholars.
