The investigation is based on a detailed comparison of the usage of the individual words of this passage in other locations of the Yizhuan, together with a comparison of the viewpoints expressed in the Mawangdui Boshu Yi Commentaries. It is concluded that the special arrangement of the 64 hexagrams in the Mawangdui Boshu is in order to comply with the Bagua or the interelationshionship of "tiandiwanwu", and not as an aid to divination, as presupposed by most previous scholars.
