Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺東師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 87 === Tam(1997) declared that human capital ,such as Specialized training ,can completely explain all of the male/female earnings differences in the United States labor market. However, Tomaskovic-Devey(1993) and Wellington(1994) indicated that , even control all the variables of human capital ,over 50% of the male/female earnings differences remain unexplained.A method of Duncan , Featherman ,and Duncan(1972) is used to decompose the male/female earnings differences in Taiwan labor market. The analysis results reveal that the directly gender discrimination in labor market can explain the male/female earnings differences for about 47% to 60% ,the gender class differences for about 19% to 33% ,and the gender human capital differences can only explain for about 9% to 12%. Obviously ,the gender discrimination hypothesis is supported. The present study conclude that gender discrimination in labor market is the main factor which make the male/female in Taiwan labor market stratified.
