The subjects of this study were 37 sixth grade students in a multiethnic elementary school in Hualien. By using the methods of in-depth interview, classroom observation and document analysis, the researcher attempts to understand the students'' comprehension and response of the multicultural curriculum, analyze students'' perspective of ethnic and gender issues, and explore the factors which influence students'' learning. This study emerges the following findings: 1. There is a gap between students'' experiential curriculum and teacher''s operational curriculum. 2. Multiple instructional strategies stimulate students’ interesting. 3. Multicultural cognition and attitude does not have the necessity correlation. 4. Teacher''s teaching attitudes have a great effect on students'' classroom participation. 5. The subgroups in the classroom influence the process of team activities. 6. The success of team learning facilitates peer understanding. 7. Students'' life experience influences their multicultural learning attitudes and outcomes. 8. The students'' image of ethnic groups and gender emerge from their families and life experiences. 9. The television has great effects on students'' multicultural learning. 10. The languages and the family relations are important to students'' ethnic-identity. 11. The students differentiate the gender from the appearance and the characteristics.
