Many changes have taken place in the society. , however , people still can''t avoid considering things from the male point of view. If they teach their children by this way, the process of reproduction makes women be oppressed. Family and school are two important agencies of socialization, therefore the education process should avoid delivering mainstream culture-hegemonic ideology. This study investigates the Parenting Education curriculum from multicultural perspective.
This research examines the culture-hegemonic ideology in the popular textbook , and attempts discuss how high school girls'' growing experiences affect their attitude about parenting education. Besides, the researcher also plays the role of teacher who proceeds parenting education curriculum with multicultural teaching strategy. The purpose of doing this is to reflect the content of textbook and to cultivate multicultural perspective of parenting education into our students.
This research findings are as follows. There are various traditional gender stereotypes, family ideologies and patriarchal value embedded in the textbook. If we want to remove the biased assumptions of parenting education, we should break the myth of "ideal family". The expectation of "good parents" and "good children" will obstruct the communication between parents and children. On the other hand, the parenting education could be the medium of empowerment. It is not only able to challenge the myth of parenting but also to criticize the social structure. This study explores parenting education from multicultural perspective by integrat-ing race, gender and class aspects. It can provide the wider vision of pare-nting education. To sum up, this research provides some suggestions, and future vision.
