Summary:碩士 === 國立花蓮師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 87 === A study of curriculum integration models in elementary schools in Taiwan Abstract The main purpose of the study is by integrating the literature analyzing curriculum integration models. Taking these models as foundation , this study explores current situation of curriculum integration in elementary schools in Taiwan. To accomplish this purpose , this study consists of three parts. Part one , the related literature is analyzed in order to establish the rationales of curriculum integration and develop the models for curriculum integration as well. Part two, educators in the field of elementary education are interviewed. Part three, the conclusion are made with the findings from the first two parts. The conclusions are follows : 1. The purpose of curriculum integration is to solve current curriculum problems of fragmentation and separation from real life. 2. The principles of curriculum integration include : life-related experience , course entirety , learning core , practice , and flexibility . 3. The models of curriculum integration can be divided into single discipline , multidisciplinary , interdisciplinary , transdisciplinary of theme , transdisciplinary of field analysis and student self-deciding curriculum . 4. School organization and teachers’ committee are main powers to prompt curriculum integration in elementary schools in Taiwan . 5. National curriculum standards and textbooks are main bases in planing curriculum integration in elementary schools in Taiwan . 6. The steps of curriculum design for most teachers include : curriculum selecting , curriculum organization , curriculum practice , evaluation , and feedback. 7. The support of resources , system , and related information can enhance teacher’s volition to implement curriculum integration . 8. The main problems of curriculum integration in elementary schools resulted from the pressure of society and the lack of self-confidence from teachers. According to the conclusion , this study has provided some suggestions . To School districts 1. Encouraging elementary schools to implement curriculum integration . 2. Giving more power and reduce intervention to elementary schools . 3. Providing enough channels of continuing education about curriculum integration to teachers . To teacher preparatory organizations 1. Enhancing teachers’ curriculum integration ability . 2. Combining academic research and professions to provide effective suggestions . To elementary schools 1. Basing on school-based perspective to select curriculum integration model . 2. Providing enough supports to assist teachers practice curriculum integration . 3. Helping teachers to solve the problems when need . 4. Setting up the system of curriculum integration to reduce obstruction from personal and political transformation . To teachers 1. Increasing professional self confidence. 2. Reflecting , feedback and sharing curriculum integration experience with others . To further research 1. Extending the theoretical research of curriculum integration . 2. Developing the examples of native models . 3. Developing the teaching material research of curriculum integration . 4. Increasing the research of curriculum integration in teaching . 5. Developing the criterion of curriculum integration .
