The study relates also to provision of therapeutic compositions effective at low dose with low irritancy. Anthracenone derivatives display potent and selective antitumor activity, telomerase inhibition and antioxidant activity, but their mechanism of action, though yet to be defined, may be novel. Despite structural similarities between the substitutents anthracenone nucleus and molecules possessing known antitumor activity, antiproliferative, antipsoriatic, anti-inflammatory, or anti-oxidant activity, these agents form a distinct mechanictic class. The syntheses of a novel series of 1,5-dichloro anthracene bearing alkyl or arylacyl moieties at the C-9 position . and tested their inhibitory antitumor activity against inter alia GBM , KB and CHO cell lines, Log P determination and antioxidant activity.
