Abstract
The purposes of this study were to explore the case conceptualization ability development of the counselor in training and to explore the effective predict variables. In this study, the researcher developed a useful tool for evaluating counselor''s case conceptualization abilities. Two raters rating 69 participants'' performance. The major findings were as follows:
1.The Case Conceptualization Ability Rating Scale is valid enough for use to evaluate counselor''s case conceptualization abilities since the validity and reliability were high.
2.The counselors'' case conceptualization abilities grow as their training grow. The undergraduate counselors'' case conceptualization abilities were lower than the graduate counselors'' were, and the graduate counselors'' case conceptualization abilities were lower than doctoral counselors'' were. But the developmental speed is not smoothly.
3.Counselor''s ''professional development level'', ''conceptual level'', ''amount of scores of counseling learning'', ''counseling hours with no supervision'', ''practicum period'', ''hours of supervised'', and ''counseling working experience'' have significant positive correlation with counselors'' case conceptualization abilities.
4.Counselors'' case conceptualization abilities are significant between different learning levels. The doctoral counselors'' case conceptualization abilities are higher than those of undergraduate and graduate level counselors are.
5.''Amount of scores of counseling learning'' and ''hours of supervised'' are better predictors of the counselor''s conceptualization ability variables.
According to the findings and the limitations of the study, suggestions for the future research and counselor education were discussed.
