The major goal of the software system is to display the reconstructed brain potential mapping in the 3D manner. The system provides the brain potential mappings observed from different viewpoints. In addition, it aids the medical experts to analyze the focal source of abnormality. To enhance the stereographical effect, the 3D graphical display was designed by utilizing the perspective projection and Delaunay triangulation. Supported by the DirectX function library, the software system provides a versatile tool for 3D display. To obtain the complete brain potential mapping from a finite number of recording electrodes, we applied an innovative method, the 3D filtering method, instead of the widely used 4NN (four-nearest-neighbor) and spherical splines methods.
