碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 資訊工程系 === 87 === Modelarity is very important in multimedia transmission architecture. Direct-Show defines a mature architecture for playing multimedia on a single machine. However, it lacks a default multimedia transmission component. Besides, in the transmission part of this component, the automatic retransmission request is not suitable for real-time multimedia transmission. Forward error correction is a solution for multimedia communication, and suitable for multicast transmission. In this paper, we will develop a forward error correction component using UDP protocol based on Direct-Show's architecture such that application programs can be integrated with our system without knowing the details of our system.
