One of the most significant social problems is juvenile delinquency. In order to deal with problems of juvenile delinquency effectively, the law related to juvenile affairs had been revised, which delineates that juvenile delinquents have to be arranged in social welfare institutions for treatment. To conduct this law, many half-way houses, such as the Half-way House at the Nan Tou Family Center, were established to take care of juvenile delinquents. Guidance provided to these teenagers by these half-way houses is a brand new service. This study is designed to evaluate the methods and outcome of this new service (Guidance Project) at the Nan Tou Half-way House. The purposes of this study are described: 1. To analyze goals, plans, and methods of Guidance Project at Nan Tou Half-way House 2. To evaluate the outcome of the project 3. To provide suggestions and recommendations for clinical social workers and further researchers regarding the effect of guidance for juvenile delinquents at half-way houses. This study consisted process and outcome evaluation. Single case study were also used with an incorporation of observation, and pre- and post-test to detect the client''s changes. Also, face-to-face interviews were conducted. Counselors, social workers and other caregivers were interviewed in order to collect data about the client''s status. Suggestions from this study were listed: 1. Diagnosis should be completed. 2. Criteria for selection should be set up. 3. Labeling should be avoided. 4. Professional competence of caregivers should be enhanced. 5. More professionals should be added to the team. 6. Motivation and attitude of professionals should be clarified. 7. Duty and obligation should be clear. 8. Guidance service should be professionalized. 9. Social support network should be established. 10. Parenting education should be incorporated. 11. Communication with community members should be encouraged. 12. Social resources should be incorporated with guidance.
