Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 環境工程學系 === 87 === The purpose of this research is to evaluate the possibility of removal of volatile organic compounds from the waste water treatment plant of petroleum chemical industrial park by the biofilter technique (including pilot scale) . The first stage experiment was to evaluate the removal efficiency and optimum operating condition of volatile organic compounds (methylamine, benzene, styrene and 1,3-butadiene) by various combination of peat and pig waste compost biofilter system (lab scale). Under two superficial bed velocities (5.31 and 15.93 m/hr) ,40~160 ppm of inlet methylamine concentration, 30~200 ppm of inlet 1,3-butadiene concentration, 60 ppm of inlet benzne concentration and 40 ppm of inlet styrene concentration, the elimination efficiency of combination of pig waste compost biofilter system was found between 95~100 % for methylamine, benzene and styrene, 80 % for 1,3-butadiene during 117 days operation period of time. The elimination efficiency of the peat biofilter was bad and unstable. The second stage experiment was using the combination of pig waste compost biofilter system (lab scale) and mixed with 0, 10 and 30 % w/w of activated carbon. Under 200 ppm of inlet methylamine and 1,3-butadiene concentration, 70 ppm of inlet benzene concentration, 40 ppm of inlet styrene concentration and 7.94~10.59 m/hr of superficial bed velocities (60 second of gas residence time) in the pig waste compost biofilter system for containing 10 % of activated carbon, the elimination efficiency was found between 95~100 % for methylamine, benzene and styrene, 80 % for 1,3-butadiene during 107 days operation period of trime. That was the optimum operating condition for the pilot scale experiment design. The pilot scale of biofilter system was a two layer of pig waste compost which mixed with 10 % activated carbon to treat volatile organic compounds from the waste water treatment plant of petroleum chemical industrial park. The pilot plant of biofilter technique was conducted in situ to estimate the removal efficiency of volatile organic compounds and odorants. Besides, the operating cost and economic benific to removal of mixed waste gases by the biofilter technique was evaluated, too. Under two gas resdience time (100 and 60 second) and 10 ppm of inlet methylamine concentration, 50~100 ppm of inlet 1,3-butadiene concentration, 20~50 ppm of inlet styrene, 30 ppm of inlet benzene, 20~40 ppm of inlet toluene and 20 ppm of inlet xylene was conducted for 150 days period of time, the elimination efficiency was found between 95~100 % for methylamine, styrene, toluene, and xylene, however, 80 % for 1,3-butadiene and benzenz, respectively.
