Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 環境工程學系 === 87 === A feasibility study for treatment and reclamation of a food processing wastewater by the dipolarization induced electroflocculation (DIE) and the reverse osmosis (RO) methods was investigated in the present work. In order to obtain useful engineering design data, for the DIE/RO methods, optimization of the process performance was also studied.
In the DIE experiments, a decrease in the feed rate caused an increase of the treatment efficiency that was also achieved at high voltage of the DIE. In addition, the treatment efficiency was improved by controlling the initial and final pH value of the wastewater between 7 and 11 in the DIE process. It is clear that the removals enhanced the efficiencies for CODt, color, turbidity, hardness, iron, and manganese by at least 66%.
The wastewater was also treated efficiently by the RO method at a high operating pressure. At the optimum, most of the removals of pollutants could be achieved over 90%.
In the integration of the DIE and RO processes, the wastewater was treated and reclaimed effectively, the recovered water can be used in washing and cooling on-site. By the use of DIE only, the water after treating can be used to flush toilet and to water flowers. Processing in this way may ensure a significant reduction of water consumption in the food processing plants.
