Thus, it will gradually become a popular measuring technology in industrial circles. In comparison with the measurement by shapescope nowadays, this method is much similar and has a quite high accuracy. Although the shapescope method, which is more commonly applied to the precise ballscrew detection in industry, has high accuracy, it only can be used in precise measurement lab. but not real time detection due to its expensive cost and severe environmental demand. The major purpose of this article is to produce a force-application positioning device, and discuss the suitability of this system. Further we combine it with the photoelastic method and digital image processing technology to make it more applicable in on-line detection, beside the basic principle of photoelasticity and digital image processing technology, we developed a new method to measure the contact angle of ballscrew. It can rapidly and accuracy measure the contact angle. The results are close to those by shapescope measurement and the error is within permission range. Terry Y.F.
