Based on this method some aspects regarding built environments can be revealed.Three paired concepts are employed to cons truct the conceptual framework for this study:The temporal concepts: chronicle vs. synchronism.The spatial concepts: independence vs. interaction.The concep ts related to discuss objects: homogeneity vs. heterogeneity.After extended ob servations and analyses, some conclusions can be made:1. The "synchronism-inde pendence" type of built forms is the most popular one.2. The "synchronism" type is more popular than the "chronicle" type.3. In the "synchronism" type, the cases with "independence" is more popular than that of "interaction".4. In the "chronicle" type, the cases with "interaction" is more popular than that of "independence".This study provides a promising method to reveal certain interesting characteristics of the culture of evironment building, by which we begin to understand the relations between the environmental culture and the social culture, and the pattern of transition of time-space characteristics of built forms in a given social culture.
