This paper describes a system which attempts to exploit that potential by extending the W3 to provide a set of basic facilities for collaborative information sharing. The CSCD Shared Workspace system was conceived as an alternative to tools which currently support collaborative working for widely-dispersed working groups such as electronic mail and ftp. We report on the design and implementation of our system, the problems we encountered and the benefits accruing from our choice of the W3 as an enabling platform, and using our experiences suggest how recent developments in the W3 point the way to more suitable and powerful mechanisms to support the development of collaborative systems. The purpose of this research is to study collaborative design operation between designers and consultants based on web. Study contents to provide a feasible cooperative model for industrial design firms communicating in include communication media, tools, protocol, privilege, methods, etc, and try two distant locations. Industrial design practice is usually operated in a collaborative manner which include roles like design teams and consultants. These roles handles design information with specific privilege and process. Protocol among different expertise has to be provided to standardize information manipulation privilege and operational flowchart. Related contents include graphic and nongraphic data and associated modification by designers and consultants. Decision-making process has specific execution steps consisting of recording, approval, modification, and reviewing communication contents among expertise. Communication protocol includes items, such as tools, media, roles, contents, methods, technology, and privilege. Research process includes steps, such as testing application systems, studying communication media and methods, estab- lishing decision-making and execution process, etc. Research result includes establishing appropriate media and tools to facilitate communication between designers and consultants, setting up communication model based on electronic media, promoting communication efficiency between two distant locations, and providing variable communication contents. Research results will be used to facilitate architecture practice. Prof. Alfred Chen 陳連福 1999 學位論文 ; thesis 250 zh-TW |
