Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 工程科學系 === 87 === Multi-tier personal communication system integrates cellular telephony and cordless telephony. Cordless telephones have traditionally offered low-power, short-range domestic and office telecommunications, however cellular radio has offered longer-range, public-access capabilities at a premium price. Whereas GSM(Global System for Mobile) is aiming at outdoor urban coverage and provides public network access and international roaming, DECT(Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication) aims to provide indoor access for different applications such as residential, business and public(telepoint). As technological advantages enable GSM to handle higher user densities and erode the coverage limitations of DECT, the two technologies are beginning to converge. It is very attractive for GSM interconnection to an access system like DECT, the mobility functions in GSM of course increase the attraction of GSM for DECT users. Bringing significant benefits to both users and operators, this approach will create the potential for seamless evolution from the place-to-place communications systems of today to the people-to-people systems of the next century. In this paper we command two interworking approach between GSM and DECT-GIP(GSM Interworking Profile) approach and Coordinate approach, investigate its mobility management, performance analysis and suitable circumstances, in order to provide mobile users access system with wide area mobility and efficient function.
