Traditional massively parallel processing systems apply the concept of virtual channel in router design to avoid the transmission deadlock. Virtual channel uses time-sharing technique for sending data to destination nodes. However, transmission bottleneck may happen while large size of data is transmitted. A new method is developed using integrated technique of spread spectrum and time-division multiplexing to implement virtual channel wormhole routed architecture. A numerical algorithm is developed for discussion, simulation, and performance analysis. Hardware architecture based on this model is implemented and measured for model verification. Waiting time and system delay can be reduced. Transmission performance is improved through the use of this technique. In addition, bandwidth requirement can also be reduced.
