Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 87 === A key issue in the design of network management systems is the effective presentation of burst management information. To achieve this task, a network management system must provide effective user interfaces to display network status and management information. Recent developments in graphical user interface utilize visualization technologies to represent complex data by using graphics, images, icons, and other means. Herein, this thesis proposes a visualization method, the VID method, for presentation of network management information. The VID method is very helpful to assist designer presenting network management information by visual, integrated, and dynamic manners. Fault management is one of the OSI management functional areas. A single fault may cause other types of faults. Besides, the fault may propagate to other nodes of the managed network. The traditional user interface of network management lacks the function of presenting the effect of faults. This thesis applies the VID method to implement a visual user interface for fault management. Furthermore, it also presents related information of fault, such as topology, alarm, MIB, causality graph, recovery suggestion, and maintenance record. These integrated information of fault can help network management staff maintain managed network quickly and efficiently. Goal of this work is to illustrate how to utilize the VID method. The following main points are described in this thesis. First, the VID method is proposed, which is comprehensible, flexible, and scalable in presenting information of network management. Second, analysis of information properties of visualized fault management is provided. The analyzed properties can be easily and clearly integrated with other management area, such as configuration and performance management. Third, a dynamic visual interface for fault management is also introduced. This application utilizes the VID method and properties of our analysis to illustrate how to present information of fault management.
