Summary:碩士 === 中原大學 === 化學系 === 87 === This thesis describes a new mothod to prepare syndiotactic polystyrene graft coplymers, such as syndiotactic polystyrene-g-polystyrene, syndiotactic polystyrene-g-polycaprolactone, and syndiotactic polystyrene-g-polyisoprene, with a relatively well-controlled reaction mechanism. The chemistry involves a transformation precess from the metallocene copolymerization of styrene and 4-methylstyrene to the anionic grafting polymerization of styrene or caprolactone or isoprene. Selective metallation reaction of 4-methylstyrene units in the copolymer and the subsequent anion graft-from polymerization were effective to produce polymeric side chains with well-defined structure. Epoxidation of syndiotactic polystyrene-g-polyisoprene by 3-chloroperoxybenzoic acid was also studied.
