Three objectives, of which the characteristics of distributed manufacturing systems are capable, are particularly emphasized: quicker speed, higher flexibility, and less complexity. This research aims to the design of distributed manufacturing and material handling systems and the corresponding coordination mechanisms. Agent-based object-oriented modeling and distributed shortest path theory are applied in this research to achieve the planning and control for a transfer-line centered, non-parallel-machine manufacturing system. We proved the convergence of the proposed coordination mechanisms and conducted experiments using discrete event simulation through experimental designs. A set of factors (such as job complexity, updating period, and preempt job ratio) are observed for their effects on the duration to convergence of job route, and communication burden. An illustration that integrates manufacturing and transfer line systems is given to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach. Key Words:Agent-based、Distributed Manufacturing System、Corresponding Coordination Mechanisms Wang Kung Jeng 王孔政 1999 學位論文 ; thesis 119 zh-TW
