It is mainly because CDMA-OFDM systems can mitigate multipath fading and provide high frequency diversity in wireless transmissions. In this thesis, we investigate the performance of different detection methods for CDMA-OFDM systems and the performance of different multiple access system structures: CDMA-OFDM, TDMA-OFDM, and conventional DS-CDMA. Simulation results show that CDMA-OFDM systems can really have an acceptable performance without too much complexity and have a higher capacity than conventional DS-CDMA systems. Moreover, we also simulate the performance of different square Q-ary (8,16,64,256) signals for CDMA-OFDM systems such that we can take these results as a reference for adaptive modulation applications.
