碩士 === 中華大學 === 建築與都市計畫學系碩士班 === 87 === This research aims to discuss the principle of space development of Chun Cheng Road in Hsinchu City. This research uses urban spatial texture concept to construct the developmental framework and the mechanism principle of “physical space ”, to study discussions on historical context as well as the current condition investigations, to analyze the combined relationship of street block, buildings and space elements, as well as the evolution process made over time. The purpose of this research is to study present conditions in addition to the evolutions and transformations of space history, in order to understand the historical meanings and characteristics of today’s space, thus formulating a complete analysis on space texture based on the present space. This thesis is in three parts. The first part raises the research motive, explains the research direction, and validates the research angle of physical space in urban city, as well as defines the relevant terminology mentioned in the research method. The second part is the research method and the current condition investigations. Current condition investigations are the research basis. They divide fixed-purpose space made out of space groups into sub-categories, and inspect the compilations of street space and line types, thus select a street indicative of that region and its class, in addition to form a research method on space and a inspection process of the research candidate. The third part is to explore the urban space developmental framework and the changes in various stages, while using the factors of change to authenticate the developmental sequences and steps. Hence this research is able to understand and analyze the background of Chun Cheng Road’s urban space, design concept, as well as the processes of implementation and transformation. This part also makes a systematic analysis on the urban space of Chun Cheng Road, in order to understand the characteristics of regional space and the change variables of space development over time, in order to raise the conclusion - Chun Cheng Road’s urban space “defining street space and the principle of line development” and “the line forming principle of physical space”.
