Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 機械工程研究所 === 87 === Abnormal electric discharge between the electrode and the workpiece due to inappropriate gap conditions greatly affects the machining performance during electric discharge machining (EDM) process. However, it was reported that adding aluminum powders to dielectric fluid is able to improve the machining results. In the present work, a range of powders are added into dielectric fluid to investigate the effects of powder’s thermophysical properties on EDM. These examinations include electrode wear, surface integrity of the workpiece, and material removal rate. The mechanism of EDM about adding powders into dielectric fluid are developed. In addition, conclusions are drawn about the optimal selection or combination of powders leading to high material removal rate, good surface integrity, and low electrode wear.
