With the text-analysis on Chinese myths and legends, the marriage forms, the progress of social status of the two sexes, and the factors affecting the progress will be discussed. Both the marriage system and totem reflecting in myths and legends are the primary discourses. The order of chapters in this paper are based on the progress from the Matriarchy to the Patriarchy. Chapter 1 is an introduction. Chapter 2-4 focus on the marriage form. Chapter 5-6 analyze the totem evolving. The progress of the social status of two sexes can be present in above two issues. The significant point of this paper are in the following three aspects : 1. The marriage relation of the two sexes undergoes three stages : from group-marriage to dual marriage ; at last, Famulus. 2. Social form develops from Matriarchy to Patriarchy. The inspired- pregnant myths and goddess myths reflect female-cult and group- marriage system. This can acclaim the Matriarchy. While the totem myths with male-ancestor concept and the abandoned-baby myths acclaim the Patriarchy. 3. The rise and fall of the social status of the two sexes : in the process from the Matriarchy to Patriarchy, male and female'' s social status have a rise-and-fall rule. From the perspective of the materialism, material produce and human sterile dominant this rule. While in China, the pre- mateured ethics has extraordinary influence on the two sexse'' social status.
