After the reform movement of the universities in the 20''s, the universities get it''s autonomy, and education became more and mom important in the peruvian society . In the process of modernization and industrialization of Pent , the University of San Cristobal ofHuamanga (UNSCH) was reopened in 1959. In 1962, Abimael GuPnan Reynost, came to Ayacucho, teaching philosophy in the university as a professor and as the director of the regional committee-Jose Carlos Mariatequi of the Peruvian Communist Party, he began his political work in the area. He proceeded a thoroughly investigation in Ayacucho, built up the base of Sendero Luminoso in the Faculty of Education, organized many popular schools and party -generated organizations. Influenced by Mao Tse-Tung, GuPnan acknowledged the importance of the peasantry. He combined the thought of Mao and Mariatequi, formed the ideology of Sendero. He took the concept of Popular War, only the armed struggle was the way to conquest the power. After the failure of the agrarian reform, the Military regime couldn''t deal with the sudden change of international economic situation, Sendero launched the armed struggle in 1980. The thesis contains the following chapters : the Background of the Emergence of Sendero Luminoso; the Influence of the University ~efonn Movement; the Formation of Sendero Luminoso, and the Ideology of Sendero Luminoso.
