Summary: | 碩士 === 東海大學 === 統計學研究所 === 86 === For more than a century, researchers have tried to use a simplebiologically meaningful model to explain the characteristics of human life table. This kind of model is originated from Theile(1871) by using theGompertz(1825) and Makeham(1860) with biological meaning. Recently, since the fast developing of computer, Siler(1979), Heligman-Pollard(1980), Mode-Busby(1982), Mode-Jacobs(1984), established some modelssimilar to Theile''s. These models are used to estimate mortality fromincomplete data, to parameterize historical mortality trends and to predict future mortality patterns. Since both Siler''s model and Mode-Bosby''smodel are simple and biologically interpretable, we attempt to combine the merits of both models and the characteristics in Taiwan to establish themodel life table ( include survival function and model of force mortality )in Taiwan.
